Welcome to the ilab winter 2014 portal...
If you are a TUM student and want to take the practical exercise next semester or if you want to inform yourself about credits, etc. please click here...
The registration process for lab courses is done using the central matching process. There is a dedicated portal for all computer science lab courses. All TUM students interested have to apply via the central matching process for lab courses.
The information event for this course will be on 2015-01-21 1700 in MI HS2. Foreign exchange students without matriculation/enrollment number need to follow the exchange student lab course application procedure.
What is the course about?
The course deals with many topics concerning networks.
After participating at the Praktikum you know "how the Internet works" since you set some of its fundamental mechanisms up by yourself: routing (statically/ dynamically), address translation, domain name service, virtual private networks and many more!
An index of the labs topics can be found here.
Since we do all experiments with Linux you will really get familar with it even if you never used it before!
All instructions are in English and you are also supposed to give your answers in English. So you can practice English!
Why is this course different?
The main focus of this practical exercise is you... We made a lot of efforts to give you an exciting experience while learning a lot of practically relevant stuff.
To give you the experience described above an entirely new webbased learning system was created. You can find out more about the system here...
The whole course happens inside the system so you don't have to do any surrounding work for your hand-ins...
Some historical notes and credits...
It was first created in 2003 by Marc-Oliver Pahl and Uwe Bilger. Additional work was done by Johannes Riedl, Heiko Niedermayer, Andreas Korsten, Joachim Schiele, Jakob Dettner and Tobias Beck.
From 2003 till 2013 more than 1000 students took part in the exercise.
