The information event for the course in summer term 2011 will take place at 05 May at 16:00 s.t.
in room 03.07.023.
What is the course about?
The course deals with many topics concerning networks.
After participating at the Praktikum you know "how the Internet works" since you set some
of its fundamental mechanisms up by yourself: routing (statically/ dynamically), address
translation, domain name service, virtual private networks and many more!
An index of the labs topics can be found here.
Since we do all experiments with Linux you will really get familar with it even if you
never used it before!
All instructions are in English and you are also supposed to give your answers in English.
So you can practice English!
Why is this course different?
The main focus of this practical exercise is you... We made a lot of efforts to give you
an exciting experience while learning a lot of practically relevant stuff.
You can read about how the course is performed here...
To give you the experience described above an entirely new webbased learning system was created.
You can find out more about the system here...
The whole course happens inside the system so you don't have to do any surrounding work for your
hand-ins...
The lab sessions are performed weekly by teams of two students.
We have five test-beds with six pcs
and two Cisco routers each.
Some historical notes and credits...
